Inconceivable Safety

Imagine a world of safety in which you, the safety hero, were not to blame for every mistake made on a job site. Imagine being congratulated for the safe work performed by the others.

I call this inconceivable safety, because frankly, it just doesn't happen that way. I read a great quote in Samuel Goodman's book, "Safety Sucks.". Paraphrasing it went something like, "Better is better, and making things better is the goal." Don't seek out Inconceivable Safety. Seek out better safety.

What is better safety? Better safety is when you can go home and look yourself in the mirror at the end of the day and say, "I made the job site better today." If we can make the conditions for even one worker better, than we have succeeded. It is as simple as that.

Don't deal in the inconceivable. Besides, it probably doesn't mean what you think it means anyway. ;)
